Not quite there yet…
Winter around Edmonton is kind of there and kind of not.
With the Lake Louise and Marmot Basin receiving loads of snow over the past week, Lake Louise World Cup Ski practice was canceled on Thursday because of heavy snow, you would have thought Edmonton might have gotten some. Such is not the case.
Instead of looking like winter, the country side looks more like late fall or early spring. The snow is sparse and where you are lucky enough to find it, the show is shallow and has been through a few freeze-thaw cycles. Not the most aesthetic time of year.
If the weather is half decent through the week, it’s off to the mountain parks on Friday morning where it actually looks like winter.
Kootenay Plains? Banff? Jasper? Each provide a great reason to visit but because Banff and the Kootenay Plains seem to be a favorite of landscape photographers I am leaning towards Jasper. Time will tell.
Happy shooting,
Dan
